Alicante Station is one of the main train stations in the Costa Blanca. It serves a number of long-distance and medium-distance train routes. Amongst them is the High Speed AVE train from Madrid Atocha Station meaning you can make the journey between the two cities in as little as 2 hours 30 minutes. Other easy train connections you can make include Valencia Nord, Murcia, Cartagena and Barcelona Sants.

The station is located in the city centre, just a short walk from the port and Alicante bus station. It’s a fairly large and modern train station with facilities including tourist information, ATMs, left-luggage lockers and toilets. There are also a few shops and cafes.

Alicante is the gateway to the Costa Blanca. With easy access to beaches including Benidorm, Calpe, Denia and Torrevieja, many visitors to the region head to Alicante first either to Alicante Airport or Alicante Station. If you’re arriving by train to Alicante or already in the city, the station’s super central location makes it easy to pick up an Alicante car hire.

Although most visitors head straight to one of the beach resorts in the area, Alicante has lots to offer and is worth a day trip. Highlights include the top of Mount Benacantil where you’ll find the Santa Barbara Castle as well as some marvellous views. The city also boasts some great shopping and the marina is lovely for soaking up the sun and people watching. On a visit, make sure you try the local paella too!
