Aviles Station is a train station serving the town of Aviles on the north coast of the Asturias in Spain. The station is on one of the commuter lines operating in the Asturias region and connects Aviles to Oviedo Station. The latter being a bigger station with mainline train services to Madrid. Aviles is also on the Feve, a narrow gauge railway connecting towns on the northern coast of Spain from Ferrol in Galicia to Gijon in the Asturias. If you like slow train journeys, you may well like this one. But do check the timetables in advance as the services don’t run very frequently.
See more with an Aviles Station car hire
Once you’re in Aviles, the best way to get around and see more is with a car hire. And there are car hire services just a few hundred metres away, on the other side of the bus station. Spain’s northern coast is known as the Costa Verde, which means green coast. And the name suits it too! Whilst this stretch of coast might not get as much sun as the country’s more famous costas, it’s no less beautiful. The coast is pretty dramatic with lots of craggy cliffs. However, you’ll also find it dotted with plenty of beaches. Aviles itself is most notable for being home to the Niemeyer Cultural Centre, which was designed by modernist architect, Oscar Niemeyer.
The nearest airport is the Asturias Airport, which is just 15kms west of Aviles and is a good alternative for car hire if you’re flying in or out of the airport. It’s also worth bearing in mind that many suppliers offer one-way rentals throughout Spain.
