Barcelona Sants Station is the main train station in Barcelona, Catalonia’s capital. Whilst other train stations in the city also offer regional and other mainline train services, the vast majority of long-distance services come in to Barcelona Sants. It also hosts the high-speed AVE train to Madrid Atocha. Other key routes from Barcelona Sants include Alicante, San Sebastian and Perpignan in France.

Housed in a big modern building, the station is located a few kilometres from the city centre in the Sants neighbourhood. Facilities include cafes, shops, toilets, cash machines, tourist information, car parking and car hire.

As city breaks go, Barcelona’s bound to be up there with the best of them. In addition to lovely beaches, a vibrant nightlife and diverse foodie scene, Barcelona offers a veritable smorgasbord of cultural gems. Two of our favourite art museums in the city include the Joan Miro Foundation and the National Museum of Art. And then there is the work of Antoni Gaudi. His designs give Barcelona a whimsical edge that no other city in the world is able to match.

Away from the Catalonian capital, there’s much more to enjoy and discover with the convenience of your own car. The Costa Brava is full of charming beach towns that offer a slower pace than Barcelona. Highlights include Tossa de Mar, Sitges, Calella de Palafrugell and Cadaques. Inland, you’ll find more Catalonian gems such as Girona and Pals.

If you’ve arrived in Barcelona by train or already in the city, a Barcelona Sants Station car hire is super convenient. As well as being well-connected with public transport, you can also access the main motorways around Barcelona fairly easily from the station. Barcelona Airport is about 12kms southwest of the city centre and is another good option for car hire particularly if you’re flying in/out of the city. Many car hire suppliers also offer one-way rentals across Spain.
