Madrid Atocha Station is one of two train stations in Spain’s capital. The biggest of the two, it’s an important travel hub – particularly for the high-speed AVE service. The station connects the capital to Spain’s major cities including Barcelona, Seville, Malaga, Alicante, Valladolid and Huesca.

It’s a huge station located in the city centre, south east of El Retiro. Facilities at Madrid Atocha Station include cafes, shops, tourist information, cash machines (ATMs), left-luggage lockers, toilets, car parking and a good selection of car hire. There is also a rather impressive botanical garden in the middle of it.

As well as being the capital of Spain, Madrid is also the cultural heart of Spain. Indeed, it’s jam-packed with world class museums, which include the Museo Reina SofiaPrado and the Thyssen. It is also home to the Spanish royal family and a top highlight is the Royal Palace and gardens. A vibrant and lively city, Madrid boasts a fantastic dining and drinking scene. Other highlights include Plaza Mayor, the colourful Lavapies neighbourhood and El Retiro, a huge park in the middle of the city.

With a Madrid Atocha Station car hire, there’s plenty more to see. Top of the list for many visitors to Madrid are the historic cities of Toledo and Segovia. These two beautiful cities are easy to reach from Madrid.  Both are about an hour’s drive from Madrid – although in different directions!

Madrid’s central location in the country helps make it Spain’s most important travel hub. If you’re arriving by train or already in Madrid, the train station is a good place to collect a car hire. The main motorway around the capital is also easily accessible from it. Other alternatives for car hire in the capital include Madrid Chamartin Station and Madrid Airport.
