Returning a car hire to Valencia Station… But which one?
There are actually two main train stations in Valencia but the one you need if you’re collecting or returning a car hire is Valencia Joaquin Sorolla Station. It’s also referred to as Valencia AVE Station as it hosts the high-speed AVE service.
And which car hires can be returned here?
Car rental companies based on-site at the station include: Enterprise, Europcar, Avis and Budget. You can return cars with these suppliers to Valencia Station. Also, if you have an Alamo car hire and have chosen to return it to this location, you’ll need to return it to Enterprise as they service Alamo cars.
There are other car hire companies available nearby who may also give their location as ‘Valencia Station’ but do make sure you check your booking voucher or with your agent as the instructions for returning your car hire will be different to our guide here.
Driving to Valencia
Valencia Joaquin Sorolla Station is located just a stone’s throw away from the historic city centre. It’s actually just south of it. And the station is easily accessible from the ring road around Valencia, V-30, as well as three other motorways heading to Valencia: V-31, V-21 and V-15.
Once you’re in the city, you should see yellow signs for ‘estacions‘ with the green ‘adif‘ logo (ADIF manage Spanish railways) beside it. These signs initially point you in the direction of both Valencia Joaquin Sorolla station and Valencia Nord (the other train station in Valencia). But as you head towards the stations, you’ll see individual signs for ‘Valencia J Sorolla’ and ‘Valencia Nord’.
Access to the station car park for returning a rental is from Av. de Giorgeta where it meets with Carrer de Sant Vicent Màrtir.
From the V-30 ring road
If you’re joining the V-30 ring road from north or west of Valencia, take exit 3 for Av. d’Ausias March. Follow it to the top of the road where there is a big junction where you’ll need to take a left onto Av. Peris i Valero. You should see a sign for ‘estacions’ pointing you this way at the junction. This road continues onto Av. de Giorgeta. Stay in the right lane as you’ll need to come off it as you approach the station for the car park.
If you’re joining the V-30 from the coast, south of the city, you need exit 2a for Av. d’Ausias March. You can then follow the instructions as above from Av. d’Ausias March.
From the V-31
The V-31 heading to Valencia continues onto Av. d’Ausias March so just follow the steps as above from that point.
From the V-21
The V-21 from north of Valencia continues onto Av. d’Arago. Continue on this road towards the city centre and City of Arts and Sciences. At the roundabout at Plaza Zaragoza, take the fourth exit for Paseo de la Alameda (towards Alicante). At the next big roundabout, take the first exit onto Av. Peris i Valero. This road continues onto Av. de Giorgeta. Stay in the right line and bear right onto the side road for the station car park.
From the V-15 (or cv-500)
On the V-15 heading into Valencia, you’ll see the City of Arts and Sciences up ahead on your right as you drive towards the city centre. Stay on the right lane and bear right when the road splits so the City of Arts and Sciences is directly on your right. At the roundabout, take the third exit onto Carrere d’Antonio Ferrandis. And when you reach the next roundabout, take the first exit onto Av. d’Ausias March. Follow it to the top of the road where there is a big junction. From here, you’ll need to take a left onto Av. Peris i Valero. You should see a sign for ‘estacions’ pointing you this way at the junction. This road continues onto Av. de Giorgeta. Stay in the right lane as you’ll need to come off it as you approach the station for the car park.
At the station car park
The rent-a-car area within the car park is well-signposted. After entering, you’ll need to head towards your right. You’ll see rows of cars and just need to look out for the logo of your car hire company. Remember that if you’ve got an Alamo car hire, you should park it in a Europcar spot.
Dropping off the keys
The car hire desks are at the top of the car park right outside the station entrance so just head towards it and you’ll soon see them to the left of the station entrance.
If you’re returning the car out of office hours, they each have a dropbox just outside their office where you can drop the keys off.
