Returning a car hire to Alicante Station? Here’s our guide to doing that. Our blog also features a guide to collecting an Alicante Station car hire. And you’ll find similar guides to Alicante Airport car hire on our sister site: DriveSpain.com.
Alicante Station is the city’s only train station and serves long-distance and high-speed routes such as the AVE train between Madrid and Alicante. So it’s obviously a handy location to return a car hire if you’re catching a train from Alicante afterwards. But with its central location, the train station is also a good destination to drop off a car hire if you’re looking for a city centre location. In addition to the various mainline train routes operating from the station, Alicante’s tram network is just a short walk away and the city’s bus station is also about 15 minutes walk away.
There are a few car hire companies with an on-site location at the train station. They are: Avis–Budget, Enterprise–Alamo and Europcar. They each have an office within the station and if your car hire is supplied by one of these companies, you can return it to the relevant car park at the station.
Hertz–Thrifty, Goldcar–Rhodium and Sixt also have nearby offices. They are located just across the road from the station on Avenida de la Estacion. And cars should be returned to the underground car park on the same road.
Whoever you’ve got a rental from, do always check the instructions for the returns process on your booking voucher.
Driving to Alicante Station
The station is located on Avenida Salamanca. It’s easy to access from the N-332 road that hugs much of the coastline in the Costa Blanca.
Driving to Alicante on the N-332: the turn-off for the train station is on the N-332 at the junction by the bus station (Estacion de Autobuses). As you approach the turn-off, you’ll see signs for ‘Estacion de trenes‘ and ‘Centro Ciudad‘, which you should follow. This will take you onto Avenida Oscar Espla, which continues onto Avenida Salamanca. The station is on your left. It has parking located either side of it with entrances on Avenida Salamanca. The parking for car hires is located on the corner of this road and Carrer Bono Guarner. So if you’ve followed the directions as above, you’ll find the relevant car park right after the station building. There is a post office right by the car park so look out for it and you’ll know you’ve got the right place.
Driving to Alicante on the A-70 motorway: you can access the N-332 by taking exit 6 for Alicante (norte)/Avenida de Denia. Stay on the right lane and take the first exit at the roundabout for ‘Centro Ciudad’. This will take you onto the N-332 so you can follow the directions above.
You can also reach the station via the A-31. Just follow signs to ‘Centro Ciudad’ and as you approach the centre, you’ll see signs for ‘Estacion de trenes’ or ‘Estacion RENFE’ for the station. This will take you onto Avenida Aguilera. At the roundabout at Plaza de la Estrella (there is an El Corte Ingles there), take the third exit for Avenida Salamanca.
Nearby petrol station
If you need to fill up on petrol before returning a car hire to Alicante Station, there is a petrol station on the N-332 about 2kms southwest of the train station. It’s on the corner of the N-332 (Avenida de Elche) and Calle Federico Mayo.
Parking for on-site car hire: Avis–Budget, Enterprise–Alamo and Europcar
Here are pictures of the entrance to the car park and a closer look at the car park. Remember that it’s the car park by the post office you need… Avis–Budget, Enterprise–Alamo and Europcar’s offices are right by the car park and you should be able to enter them from here. They each have a drop box for keys if you’re returning your car hire outside office hours.
Parking for off-site car hire: Hertz-Thrifty, Goldcar-Rhodium and Sixt
Rentals with the above companies should be returned to the underground car park at Avenida de la Estacion. There are two entrances. One is at Plaza de los Luceros so if you’re coming onto Avenida de la Estacion from there, the entrance is just on your right. From Avenida Salamanca on the other side of the street, you’ll turn right onto Avenida de la Estacion and the parking entrance is on your right.
Once inside the station, you should see signs directing you to where you should return your car to. As you can see from the picture below, Hertz-Thrifty and Sixt rentals should be returned to level -2. Goldcar rentals should be returned to level -1.
All three offices are located close to the parking exit for Avenida Salamanca and Calle Serrano.
