Following our blog post on collecting a Girona Station car hire, here’s our guide to returning a car hire to Girona Station. The train station’s central location makes it a great place to drop a rental off if you have plan to be in the city centre or catching a train elsewhere. It’s also a convenient drop-off location if you’re heading to your next destination by bus. This is because the bus station is right in front of the train station.
Returning a car hire to Girona Station: Which suppliers are here?
There are currently only a few on-site car hire companies at the station. The two companies that do have desks at the train station are Avis, Enterprise/National and Europcar (who service Alamo car hires too). For a wider selection of car hire companies, it’s worth considering Girona Airport. If you’re returning a car hire with a different company to the ones on-site, check your booking voucher or with your booking agent for the drop-off instructions.
As for Girona Station itself, it’s easy to get around and has a host of services including a shop, café and toilets. As mentioned already, the city bus station is also located directly in front of it. For more information about what’s at the station, visit adif.es. Adif manage Spain’s railways.
Want to return a car hire on Sunday?
All three on-site car hire companies are closed on Sundays. And whilst Europcar and Avis 24 hour returns, Enterprise/National don’t seem to. Car hire companies based on-site at Girona Airport do tend to open everyday.
Driving to Girona Station
Girona Station is located in the city centre at Plaza (also spelt Plaça) España. It’s just off Calle Barcelona, which is one of the main thoroughfares in the city. Calle Barcelona starts at Plaza Marques de Camps, south of La Devesa Park. It continues south, past the train station and onto the A-2 motorway heading south.
From the C-65: you can join Calle Barcelona by following the signs for Girona Centre. There are signs for the station on Calle Barcelona.
From the A-7 (toll road): If you’re driving from outside of the city on the A-7, you can take exit 7 or 6B, which will take you towards the city centre (centre ciutat on road signs). Keep following signs to the city centre and you should reach Calle Barcelona.
Need a petrol station?
There is a nearby Repsol petrol station on Calle Barcelona about 2kms south of the train station.
Girona Station car park
The car park is located beneath the railway lines to the left of the station building. Once you’ve driven into the station square (Plaza Espanya), follow the road around to the left, following signs to ‘Parking‘. You’ll see the entrance to the car park come up on your right just after passing the station building.
After parking and locking the car (don’t forget to check you’ve not forgotten anything!), you’ll need to go inside the station to return the keys. You can do this at the relevant car hire desk. Both of which are inside the station by the entrance closest to the car park.
