San Sebastian (known as Donostia in Basque) is one of the best-loved destinations in the Basque Country. A stunning beach city, San Sebastian boasts two fab beaches: La Concha and La Zurriola. It has a fab location in the Bay of Biscay with two prominent hills on either side of La Concha and a green mountainscape as the backdrop. The city is as popular for its food as it is for its beaches. Boasting more than its fair share of Michelin starred restaurants, its many pintxo bars are also a foodie highlight. Pintxos are a Basque tradition similar to tapas and served in many bars in the region. The best way to enjoy them is by bar-hopping in the pretty historic quarter at the foot of Mount Urgull. And if you’re interested in learning more about the Basque Country, don’t miss a visit to the San Telmo Museum.

If you’re in or travelling to San Sebastian by train, a San Sebastian Station car hire is the best way to explore more of the Basque Country in both Spain and France. 100kms west of San Sebastian, Bilbao is another great place to experience the Basque Country. It is also famously home of the incredible Guggenheim Museum. And in France, Hendaye, Saint Jean de Luz and Biarritz also have good beaches.

The nearest airports are San Sebastian Airport and Bilbao Airport. Both have a good selection of car hire too.
