Valencia Joaquin Sorolla Station is one of two main train stations in Valencia on the east coast of Spain. Mainline train services from here include Alicante Station, Castellon Station and Barcelona Franca Station. Valencia Joaquin Sorolla is also where high-speed AVE services connect the city to Madrid Atocha Station. You’ll find it 1.5kms south of the city centre. And facilities include cafes, restaurants, left-luggage lockers, toilets, cash machines (ATMs), tourist information, car parking and car hire.

Valencia Nord Station is another key train station in the city. It’s actually just a short walk north of Valencia Joaquin Sorolla Station. And it hosts train services to Cartagena, Murcia, Albacete and Alcazar de San Juan. See our blog post on train stations in Valencia for a little more on both.

Valencia is the third largest city in Spain and the capital of the Valencian Community in eastern Spain. The city is also the main gateway to the stretch of coast between the Costa Blanca and Costa Azahar. Valencia itself is a fantastic choice for a city break and offers a good mix of cosmopolitan city and beach life. The city’s most notable attraction is the spectacular City of Arts and Sciences. Despite having been built over a decade ago, it still looks incredibly futuristic. Other great highlights include the historic centre and Central Market (Mercado Central). And a more unusual feature of the city is the fact that the River Turia, which used to run through the city, is now a series of parks and gardens.

Whilst Valencia has some great beaches in the city, there are plenty more fab beaches along the coast. Amongst them are El Saler, Sagunto and Cullera. Another highlight near Valencia is the Albufera Natural Park. It’s a wonderful place for bird watching. The lake here is home to rice fields and its waters are famous for producing the best rice dishes in the country. The lake is also likely to be responsible for the region’s most famous dish: paella.

The nearest airport is Valencia Airport. The airport is located about 10kms west of the city centre and is another good option for car hire.
